The People of oneninefive: Lauren Sims

The People of ONF is a content series that showcases the interesting, creative and all-round cool people that make up oneninefive.

Let’s get to know Lauren..

When did you join ONF? March 2nd 2020

What’s one thing that surprised you about working at ONF? Everyone’s passion to do well and support each other. It’s a really nice environment to work in and makes you feel encouraged to try something new and suggest new ideas. Everyone wants the business and each other to do well, there’s a real sense of community and all working towards the same goals.

What led you to this industry? Re-located to London and decided to try something new. Always been in Digital Marketing but wanted to broaden out to Demand Generation.

What’s your hobby or passion project outside of work? I play hockey.. currently looking for a new team in London, so if anyone is looking for a midfielder who is more interested in the social aspect than the score, hit me up!

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day? Is wine an acceptable answer?

What did you want to be when you were younger? I wanted to be a vet, and then discovered I faint at the sight of blood so that dream was short-lived. I also wanted to be a speech therapist, something I’m still considering in later life if I can ever muster the courage to go back to education!

How are you adjusting to the working from home lifestyle? Any tips on how to stay productive? Regular breaks and making the most of one lot of exercise a day. Also making sure to talk to colleagues about things other than work, like you would in the office. I’ve also found trying to make my ‘home’ desk resemble my ‘work’ desk as much as possible is helping me get into a work mode! Hand cream and lip balm are desk essentials for me haha

What trend do you hope makes a comeback? Rollerblading! How cool would that be to see everyone rollerblading to work in London!

What’s a trip that changed you, and why? Travelling round South East Asia straight out of uni, we had barely any money and no plan, just got on a plane to Bangkok and winged the whole 3 weeks! Somehow managed to explore some of Thailand, Bali and Malaysia! We missed flights and buses and boats, and it was a disaster from start to finish but it was amazing! It was my first experience outside of western civilization, and showed me a way to see the world without always having to take six months off to do so. By not having a plan we saw places based on recommendations and where others were going, we might not have seen these places if we were a little more organised! ‘Going with the flow’ was defo the vibe of the trip and its taught me how I enjoy to travel and has helped with many travelling adventures after that one!

Quick Fire Q’s

What are you watching on Netflix right now? Currently nothing, recommendations welcome! However my go to is always re-watching Gossip Girl, such a classic!

What’s one song that you’re embarrassed to admit you like? Justin Bieber – Intentions – sooooo cheesey!!

What’s one song that isn’t played enough? One Direction – What makes you beautiful!

Sand or Snow? Which would you prefer to holiday? Sand!

How do you like your eggs? Fried in a bacon sandwich

One meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? This is really hard! Can my meal be three courses?! Starter – baked Camembert. Main – Spag bol or chicken pie or maybe chicken nuggets! Dessert – chocolate brownie and ice cream
