The People of oneninefive: Sian Baker

Let’s get to know Sian..

When did you join MTT? 2nd January 2019

What’s one thing that surprised you about working at MTT? My inability to drink alcohol anymore, the amount of tequila that has been consumed in the last 14 months actually scares me!

What led you to this industry? I decided to uproot my small town life and move back to the big smoke where I am originally from. The industry really appealed to me as it is so fast-paced, modern, full of young and dynamic people and in the heart of London.

What’s your hobby or passion project outside of work? I love to read books, currently working my way through the Agatha Christie, Poirot collection. I also love to cook, its something I try to do every night after work.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day? A glass of red wine, cooking a nice dinner and watching a film with the cat.

What did you want to be when you were younger? I always wanted to be a historian, i am fascinated by ww1 and ww2 history and love reading books based on the events, visiting museums and learning about the past.

How are you adjusting to the working from home lifestyle? Any tips on how to stay productive? Routine! I try and get up at a good time in the morning, have a coffee and watch the news and then write up my plan of action for the day. I like to go out for a long walk at lunch, take a break to cook some lunch and of course facetime my friends and family to keep me sane!

What trend do you hope makes a comeback? Lunchtime Wine on a Friday! I feel this should be something we are all encouraged to do after a long week at work. Oh, and afternoon naps.

What’s a trip that changed you, and why? Berlin! To be able to see the WW2 memorials first hand, experience the holocaust exhibitions and the Reichstag Building alongside the Berlin Wall was just breathtaking and so moving for me. As someone who loves history it was an amazing experience for me and it was incredible to experience a snapshot of our history.

Quick Fire Q’s

What are you watching on Netflix right now? The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez – a true crime documentary which is incredibly moving.

What’s one song that you’re embarrassed to admit you like? Taylor Swift – Lover

What’s one song that isn’t played enough? The Clash – Rock the Casbah

Sand or Snow? Which would you prefer to holiday? Sand of course!

One meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Seafood Platter from Bordeaux
